Winter Draws on...
I know the title of this piece is an old music hall joke but the cold has now started to bite when out on the fells.
Over the past few weeks, I have run workshops where I have over provided clothing and one where I had to nip back to the car and load up with another fleece and bigger gloves.
Says something for us 'hardened' northerners....
It was a pleasure to work around the River Esk and back over to the Buttermere area.
I never tire of any of the Lakes locations. Covering virtually all of it throughout the year, I still look forward to simply spending the day out with folk as they learn how to capture the beauty that is served up before them.
At present I just can't find time for my own work but workshops deliver characters to me who share the love of the landscape and that compensates for it.
I must get some more time out for me though.
I had a cracking day out shooting for a commercial client on and around Windermere a couple of weeks back and I have to thank Jane Watson for arranging the schedule and Jen for acting as the model for all the shots.
It is never easy trying to work in a live situation and as it was half term (it had to be to ensure volumes of folk milling around) it did add to the shoot.
Makes my job a tad harder but we got there in the end.
The King Of The North would proclaim that, "winter is coming" and with the first snows of the season now having dusted Helvellyn this week, he would be right.
A mixed time for me thought as I love the photographic opportunities but I hark back to a bad crash caused by black ice that I had in Eskdale many years ago.
It will always remain with me. driving in snow and ice doesn't excite me one bit.....
The talk season is now upon 'us pros' and I begin mine next week at Biggleswade Photographic Society. Looking forward to meeting some old friends there and making new ones. They are great to be invited to and always humbling to think that people want to hear what you have to say and enjoy your work. Because I have been doing this for many years now, I am being asked back to societies I have been to before. Whilst many like to hear the , "BIT OF A JOURNEY' talk I am now constructing several others. Great fun to do and even better to deliver.
It is Harrogate in early December and then many places criss crossing the UK before my 'tour' finishes next April.
FUJIFILM have asked me to write several blogs and other articles for them and I am currentlly taking time out, writing this news item for my website now in between working for them. I will keep you posted as to their publication but I know that they will be sending across all social media sites in due course.
Its a sunny day today and started off frosty. I see that many togs are now out snapping away.
I hope to get out and join them soon!
Enjoy whatever you do.
